Wrucks Horse Help
Beschermde donatie
These are my good friends Scott and Jessica Wruck. They own and operate Wruck Riding Centre (WRC) just south of Saskatoon. WRC is a place where horse lovers of all ages come to enjoy horses. The main services offered are riding lessons, kids summer camps and horse boarding. Jess has a special way of training and nurturing children’s love for horses. For those that know Jess and Scott, you know they are selfless and humble people that are the last to ask for help. So, I’m asking for them!
WRC is still fresh in the start-up phases of a new business. They are only 6 years old and after a rough 2020 shut down due to Covid last March, they finally felt they had turned the corner as they headed into 2021, as most of us did. Then, only one week into her 2021 spring riding lesson session, a few horses became ill. After being tested, they found out that one horse tested positive for Strangles. Jess immediately had to shut down her entire operation (again) and began isolating and monitoring their entire herd of 45+ horses, including taking temps every day. This is a very time-consuming job, along with all the other tasks of keeping the horses fed, watered, doctored and comfortable. Add to that, multiple vet visits needed to test the entire herd for possible strangles - you can see how expenses start to add up with no money coming in due to the lesson program being shut down. They want to ensure that they are doing everything right by their animals and the community by containing the bacteria and ensuring future bio security measures are in place to prevent any further shutdown such as this or spread of the disease. This is like COVID but for horses!
With no income coming in and mounting vet bills this seems to be a large mountain to climb. I am hoping to raise enough money for them to get to the point where all suspect strangles carriers are scoped deemed+- negative for the disease. Strangles is a bacteria that can live in the guttural pouches of some horses and they can be carriers for life if they are not discovered. I am really hoping to be able to raise enough money for the Wrucks to cover all their vet bills so they can go back to full operation of their facility as quickly as possible.
Jess and Scotts facility is a safe haven for those in the community and the children that come to ride with her. These horses are more than just animals to the Wrucks and the kids that ride there. They deserve the best treatment possible, and the kids want to be out riding their best friends! During a time in our lives where mental health is a huge concern across the globe, it is places like Wrucks that provide a place to escape and get away from the worries of the day and immerse yourself in the therapeutic nature that a horse provides. To so many this is an escape from the everyday and such an important part of their week.
I just wanted to say thanks so much for taking the time to read through this and help our friends. This facility is my happy place, and I can’t wait to get back to riding here again! Thanks, from the bottom of my heart and their hearts and I know they will be eternally grateful.
If you would like to donate directly to Scott and Jess and, not through the go fund me, please contact me and I'll get you hooked up!
Thanks again everyone.
