Woman wt Seizures and Vietnam Veteran with Cancer

Hello my name is Rose Gregorio, I'm a Registered Nurse and an advocate for the Homeless Community here in Sunnyvale Ca.

Before Covid I was able to help unhoused children celebrate their birthdays in amusement parks via go fund me. Due to covid, I cannot continue doing this for our unhoused children, so I focused my attention on the encampments.

Today, I met a 73yr old woman that goes by the name of Linda.

Linda was hospitalized due to seizures. She was released from the hospital recently. Linda suffered another seizure just the other day. In looking over the various medications she is currently taking, I know Linda has a myriad of health issues. Thankfully she is with her son who has mild Autism and is able to help her with some problems. From talking to her, I discovered that Linda and her son are currently on a waiting list for a shelter. I called the hotline for the shelter, begging them to take in Linda and her son due to Linda's health condition, but to no avail. I approached our City and County officials for assistance but was unsuccessful. The shelter is all full to capacity due to covid issues. I am deeply saddened for Linda and the people like her and extremely disappointed that we can't get them help.

Robert is a 70 yr Vietnam Veteran who served 1 yr in 1968 and has Lung Cancer, COPD, heart problems and psychosis. Helping Robert was a challenge but I was able to get his trust. Today I got him 2 nights in our local motel, and another advocate is working on getting him Section 8 interest which is a rapid housing for Veterans that will take at least 4mos to process. He is also on the waiting list for a shelter.

I am asking all of your good hearts to help in funding a week of a

motel for both Linda and Robert at least they can be in a comfortable, decent accommodation temporarily until hopefully they get placed in a permanent shelter and for Robert to get housed.
