Winter Gifts for Incarcerated Folks

Donation protected
This is my third annual fundraiser to send holiday gifts to folks in prison- I had no idea when I got started that this would become an annual tradition! I am friends with and provide support for twenty incarcerated individuals, and for the past three years I've tried to gather some funds to send them something special for the holidays. The first year, in 2018, I was able to send food packages to four people, and in 2019 I was able to send four food packages *plus* winter gear like boots, hats, and scarves. This year I'd like to add to that, sending food packages, winter gear, and a few other requested items like a radio. To make donation funds go farther I will be collaborating with the NY chapter of Abolition Apostles,  a growing jail and prison ministry. By having the NY chapter of Abolition Apostles help with gathering and sending food packages, shipping costs will be considerably less expensive, which will allow us to send them to more people.

Here's a few things I've been asked for by my friends behind the wall:

-Nathan G, at Clinton Correctional Facility has asked for a hat and scarf. He also always enjoys getting books by authors like James Patterson, and magazines like Men's Health.

-Albert M, at Sing Sing, could use a new set of boots. If you donated last year you may remember the saga it took to get him a pair. Well, they got stolen, so I'd love to get him a new set.

-David S, at Auburn, would love some new towels and blankets and a new beard trimmer.

-Richard W, at Wende, would like a new radio- a nice one that will let him listen to music from his JPay tablet usually costs around $100.

-Eddie O,  at Wende, my wonderful long-time friend, has asked for some Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte drink mix- they sure don't sell that in commissary!

Everyone always appreciates getting some food and coffee, too. A food package typically costs $60 or so to gather, plus around $25 to ship. My goal is to raise $1000, which would cover around 5 food packages and the above requested items.

Anything you can contribute is always deeply, deeply appreciated. If you would like to contribute using other means like PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, or old fashioned check, please let me know. I have been so grateful for all the contributions made in past years, as have the folks who've been able to receive these gifts. In 2018, I sent a package to Louie C and he got to open it right on Christmas Day- something he hadn't experienced in years. I hope you'll consider chipping in a few dollars to bring a little holiday cheer to these friends of mine.
