Winter Essentials Appeal
Donation protected
The Pennypit Community Development Trust are raising funds to provide winter essentials such as a warm coat, hats, scarfs and gloves to the community.
A warm coat is a luxury that many individuals cannot afford.
COVID-19 has affected many families in our community, affecting unemployment and household income pushing many more families into poverty this winter. The winter months present the greatest health risks to many vulnerable families, adults and elderly who are living in poverty. Many children have to walk to and from school without a coat, which has an adverse affect on their concentration, attendance and performance. In some homes, there is no heating so wearing a coat inside is the only option to keep warm.
The average cost of a winter coat for a child is £20, for some this is similar to their weekly income.
Our mission is to provide free coats and winter essentials to children and adults who are in need. The coats will be distributed across PSG and Fa'side areas. We hope to have enough funding to start providing coats in October when the weather starts to get colder.
Any donation is greatly appreciated and will go towards this worthwhile cause!
