Windsor Evacuation Shelter Funds

My name is Marisol Gonzalez, and I live in the Vintana neighborhood area of Windsor, California. Our community needs our support during these trying times. The emergency evacuation shelter at Windsor High School has become a safe haven for those displaced by the wildfires raging throughout the county. Every person I know is connected to someone else who has experienced extreme hardship and loss over the last few days.
The two photos above are just one example. The left picture was taken Sunday afternoon, and the right taken Monday morning.
This leaves us all asking the question, “How can I help?”
Although I luckily did not lose my home, both friends and family have. All I can do now is help them the best I know how.
It doesn’t take much to make a difference. The shelter at WHS is looking for a few crucial necessities for evacuees. However, needs are changing daily, even hourly. It’s hard to get the word out about what supplies are short before someone has already gone to the store and picked it up.
My goal is to streamline the process a bit and facilitate a gofundme account where people can donate money for supplies.
I will be collecting these funds and working with the shelter in my neighborhood to ensure crucial supplies are getting delivered on a timely basis.
All donations collected will be used for the sole purpose of buying supplies for the WHS shelter including food, clothes, toiletries, etc.
When there is so much work to be done to rebuild the lives of the victims in our community, it’s hard to know where to start.
I believe this is a small way we can come together collectively to give back.
