Hey Everyone!
We are adopting! We can hardly believe it and are so excited to start this journey! We love sharing our story about what has led us to adopt our first child and want to give you a window into that story and our lives!
Our primary inspiration for taking this crazy leap is how amazed we are in God's adoption of us as his children. "For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”" Romans 8:15. This has completely altered the trajectory of our eternal life and inheritance with him! For me (Will), adoption has been around me as long as I can remember. Having both family members and friends making an impact in this world through adoption, I have seen the kind of joy it can bring to both the child and the parents. I (Andrea) have been struck by the vast number of orphans in this world and the kind of vulnerability so many of them live in. In the midst of these thoughts, feelings, and experiences, we are overwhelmingly compelled and encouraged to take action.
We have made the decision to pursue domesitic infant adoption. There are two main reasons why we have elected to go this route. Due to our age, many international countries would not allow us to adopt. The second reason is in light of our recent move to New England. We hope our adoption will make a positive impact locally in the life of our child and birthparents, and that it would be a means of changing the culture by raising awareness of adoption as a viable solution to unplanned pregnancies.
Our goal is to raise $26,800 to cover the adoption expenses by June 30, 2018. This total includes the application fees, homestudy fee, adoption agency expenses, and post-placement assessment fees. In addition to these, we will also have legal fees, which vary greatly.
If you would love to partner with us, your support of our adoption will go beyond meeting an enormous financial need. We need all your prayers, hugs, dinners, parenting-for-dummies books, etc. You will be partnering with us in changing the lives of everyone involved. You will be actively bringing our baby closer to home, and caring for the orphan in a direct, tangible way (James 1:27). We invite you to consider joining us in this adventure together!
