JOY TO TRAGEDY – BECOMING A FATHER TO TRIPLETS AND WITHIN MINUTES A WIDOWER

On the 14th September 2022 at 8:22pm both a miracle and a tragedy occurred within a matter of minutes. Our brother Jas a devoted husband lost his wife and soulmate as she suffered a suspected cardiac arrest, their miracle triplets were brought into this world via emergency caesarean. Gurdeep did not make it, the doctors were unable to resuscitate her, so as her beautiful babies came into this world, she sadly took her last breath, never getting to meet, hold or hug them or know that they had arrived safely.

All of this happened in mere minutes – something that Jas was witness to and continues to relive on a daily basis. This was meant to be the happiest day of their lives – yet turned out to be the most tragic. Three beautiful miracle babies came into the world but were denied the purest and most unconditional love - a mothers love.

The medics were just as shocked and distressed as the family with this tragic loss – Gurdeep was in the safest place, in hospital being regularly monitored, she was talking with Jas right up to her last breath, making plans and excitedly choosing names for their miracle triplets.

Gurdeep and Jas had been married for nearly 18 years and like most couples yearned to have a family of their own – however after multiple miscarriages and failed IVF treatments – life threw them blow after blow. Gurdeep never lost hope – she always said “When” never “If” I become a mother. She was an avid believer and would say “God will one day bless me with a child”. Despite all their personal disappointments both Jas and Gurdeep rejoiced when other family and friends had children and were one of the most selfless , generous, happy-go-lucky couples ever known – always remaining positive and lighting up a room with their positive energy, witty humour and beaming smiles.

Finally, after years of research, costly medical interventions and visits abroad they were overjoyed and blessed with the news they were pregnant with triplets. They were finally going to be the family unit they had yearned for and set about the usual new parent tasks of preparing for the future and eagerly awaiting the arrival of their bundles of joy.

Gurdeep and Jas were the true definition of soulmates – always together, endless respect and love and encouraging each other to be the best version of themselves. So as you can imagine, our Jas is lost and broken without the love of his life and yet he is only too aware he has the biggest challenge of his life ahead – being a single father to his triplets – Waaris, Asees & Zorav.

Many friends, family and the wider community have asked us how and they can support Jas, so we decided to set up this page to help him with this immense task of raising his beautiful triplets - to give him the support he needs to begin this journey with his babies.

Due to the fantastic work undertaken by the doctors and nurses at the Neonatal Unit we will be pledging a percentage of the donations to UHCW Neonatal Unit.
