Art Supplies for Kids

With closure of the Poughkeepsie City School District a growing group of local artists would like to provide some support for our youth - the future leaders of our community.  We would like to distribute age-appropriate art supplies to help keep young minds occupied and creative as an alternative to television and video games.

This effort is an outgrowth of the weekly Arts & Action sponsored by Arts Mid-Hudson and 330 Gallery in the City of Poughkeepsie, motivated by artist and gallery owner, David Henningsen and Jeff Aman, Chair of the City of Poughkeepsie Public Arts Commission.

We would like to enhance existing meal and school supply distribution processes to include art supplies such as colored pencils, drawing pads, coloring books, non-toxic color markers and watercolor sets.

The objective of this campaign is to collect at least $2000 as rapidly as possible to bulk-purchase a larger quantity of art supplies, hopefully at a greatly reduced cost.

Note that this is not an official fundraiser by the City of Poughkeepsie nor the Poughkeepsie City School District. No amount is too small, or too large.  Whatever money we collect will be spent to provide art supplies for as many kids as we can, regardless of whether we meet the goal.

Please share this as widely as possible to help us meet our goal as quickly as possible.
