PLEASE HELP our WNC families with immediate Helene relief

We're David and Emily Ankeney and our family of five has lived here in Asheville NC for 22 years. In coordination with our network of family friends, we are setting up this fund so you can help us provide direct, immediate relief to the smaller, lesser served Western North Carolina communities recently devastated by Hurricane Helene. While our Ankeney family was fortunate to suffer only minor damage to our home, there are many others who have literally lost everything.

Though well-intended donations to large agencies definitely help, they can often move slowly and take a longer time to distribute equitably to those in remote communities who may need it the most.

With your financial support, we will purchase from the ever growing lists of basic life necessities and critical medical supplies needed, as our broader WNC area is only just beginning to recover. David will distribute all items to the community centers, churches, fire departments and temporary medical facilities with our little green 4X4 truck.

All of your contributions to our efforts will go directly to our network of validated, trusted community volunteers who are donating their time and expertise to support local families in need right now.

A healthcare professional living in Woodfin who has effectively become the remote village doctor for the 200+ elderly and family neighbors who all live around him within a mountain cove.

A municipal councilperson who is continually updating needs-based analysis and helping to direct supplies to families with less means.

A prenatal and pregnancy healthcare specialist in rural Barnardsville providing services to women at a temporary community medical facility.

These are the types of WNC community members we will all be partnering with and serving with your assistance.
