This is a call to action; help your fellow Palm Beach County citizens who are risking their health and lives to make a better future for the next generation of people of color. Currently, protestors are being arrested for as little as being present at a protest after curfew and being charged with Inciting a Riot, a 3rd degree felony. What's worst is that; they're having bonds set at $100,000 despite not having the means or the wealth in their families to pay that kind of bond. If we do not step up; they'll sit in jail for months with no representation on trumped charges! We cannot allow the very unfair justice system that our youth are protesting against; to ruin their lives. Help us hire lawyers for them and get them home to their families! They should not be punished for voicing rightful frustration with the justice system. All unused funds will be refunded.
My name is Marquise Rosier and I am a Software Engineer at Adobe. I grew up in Delray Beach, Florida. Palm Beach County is where I first learned the impacts of racism. After I clawed myself out of abject poverty and lack of opportunity, I decided I'd do my best to make it easier for the next generation of black people as the ones before me did when they laid their lives down to struggle against segregation, slavery, and the various institutions that oppressed us. Donate for the cause.
A Facebook Page will be made to monitor the progress and record funds and transactions. I want full transparency in this struggle; let's get people bailed out now and support them in their legal struggle.
UPDATE: GOAL HAS BEEN LOWERED FROM 3 MILLION TO $250,000; WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO AFFORD LAWYERS AND BAIL FOR ARRESTED PROTESTORS AND WHILE MORE MONEY CAN SECURE MORE OF A FIGHTING CHANCE FOR PEOPLE OF COLOR; WE MUST SET REALISTIC GOALS!
