West Lakes Downstream Clean Up

Donation protected
West Lakes is a chain of lakes (Jones, Waldron, Steinbarger and Tamarack) in NE Indiana that is the last series of lakes that flow in to the Elkhart River. There is one outlet to the Elkhart. Due to increased municipal development, lack of wetlands preservation, farm drainage water and other issues, water comes into the lake chain very quickly, but with a river outlet that is clogged with dead trees, nutrients coming in to the river, vegetation and silt, water goes out very slowly. We have a lot of houses that are getting flooded and we are presently in a serious flood situation. It is hard to get any help financially, above what we can muster through our West Lakes Association members. We presently rely on our dedicated volunteers to do many hour of hard work cleaning the river, but we could use a lot of financial assistance to get the situation under control and help us manage for the future. We are being proactive in protecting our beautiful lakes, river and homes. The West Lakes Association is a non-profit organization. Thank you for your support and check us out at FaceBook - West Lakes Association.
