We Got You...Estamos Juntos

COVID-19 is a virus impacting our community heavily. And not all of us can shelter-in-place with all basic needs covered. Among the many impacted are undocumented transitional-age youth (ages 16-24), many of whom are financially independent students who work to support themselves and their families in their home countries, but cannot access unemployment benefits because of their immigration status.  I am an 11 year old Latina from Oakland, and I am starting this fundraiser inspired by the resilience of my people and motivated by author Eduardo Galeano, who once said: “I don't believe in charity. I believe in solidarity. Charity is so vertical. It goes from the top to the bottom. Solidarity is horizontal. It respects the other person. I have a lot to learn from other people.”
