Give for Grant

Seems like everyone knows Grant. Whether one of the countless students he mentored at Venice High School as a beloved teacher for decades, a neighbor who has relied on his handy expertise, a Kings River tripper whose tube was patched and ready for the next float, we all have special memories of this generous, kind, helpful man.

And today, Grant needs our help in return.

As many of you know, Grant has been the backbone of a 40-YEAR tradition of taking friends and family on a summer tubing float. In a world filled with division, Grant's Wednesday Night Memorial River Trip has for decades been a means of bringing people from all walks of life together in friendship.

This year's trip was one for the record books, and left lasting impressions on everyone who came, another testament to Grant's innate ability to create connection and kindle joy.

There was just one snag. One very big, very expensive snag.

Our rented float-hauling truck met a low-hanging train trestle, which sheared the roof from the hauling box. We are so grateful Grant wasn't injured in this accident, but the damage extends beyond just the box.

This was a purely human accident, and one for which we and Grant thought we'd prepared by purchasing rental insurance. It wasn't until after the accident that we learned the coverage we'd purchased did not cover this specific type of accident.

Now Grant is on the hook for the TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLAR repair bill, and those of us who know and love this upstanding teacher, neighbor, community leader, and friend are asking for help to pay his bill.

In 90 days, liens against Grant's home and income will be levied, risking everything he's worked so hard for as he approaches what should be his most shining, golden years. It is our duty as his friends to help stop this.

Please help us help Grant put this obligation behind him, and exemplify his boundless ideals of community, friendship, generosity, and kindness.

Dig deep if you're able, but also know that every donation is a step towards relieving Grant of this unbearable financial burden. We will update this fundraiser regularly, and welcome all of your donations with open hearts.

Please share a story in the comments below of what Grant has meant to you, or a particularly fond memory of time you've spent with him, and let's all come together to show him how much he means to all of us.

Thank you so much.
