We Breathe For You, the George Floyd Enrichment

I recently found out that one of my dearest and an amazing Pharmacist friend, Dr. Orin Autry, started a small food pantry in Winston Salem, N.C. in August 2019. If you know who Orin is, I’m sure there is absolutely no surprise on your end that he’s doing something this incredible. Even for Orin, it wasn’t an overnight decision, here’s what he had to say when asked why he chose to start this:
“I did extensive research by looking into national statistics on food insecurities and hunger, even did a presentation during my 4th year in pharmacy school going over how food insecurity is coupled with long term health issues. During my short time in West Virginia (3rd poorest state in the country), it only cemented and sealed my destiny to push this work to a real place of making an impact. I saw many people digging in trash for food and counseled patient who would look in my eyes day after day and say “I can’t afford a bottle of water” or “I only have $55 a month for food.” I decided to use a storage room at his church, buy shelves, signs, and food and now I’m feeding 300 people a month.”
Orin is the type of person who will give his 1000% but will not ask for help. This man is not tech-savvy, as many of you know, he was still using a flip phone up until last year. He spent over $2000 out of his pocket for this cause so far and I think he deserves any support we can provide. That can be donating food at the church or donating here on this page. All 100% of funds raised will be put into the pantry and the expansion of it.
The name for the fundraiser comes from Orin's involvement and his fight for injustice in this country that not only caused George Floyd's life but many others. This is Orin's way to honor and celebrate all the lives lost.
