WCS/Ben Hamm Scholarship Award

Donation protected

My name is Corey Chaney. I am an alumini of Wesleyan Christian School, graduating with the Class of 2015. Since my graduation, I am currently serving in the U.S. Army and continuing to pursue God's many callings upon my life. I owe  WCS a huge amount of gratitude for helping me accomplish myself in education, spiritual development & passion, and mental & physical growth. I am committed to providing a selected individual from the 2017 graduating class a scholarship! This scholarship will go towards assisting their future whether it be for tuition, books, or food and gas. Here's the catch: The award will be presented to one student who conducts themselves in a role throughout the year that is selfless, a leader, and a motivated follower of Jesus! Someone that everyone can feed off due to a consistent positive attitude, someone who shows great integrity (doing the right thing when no one is looking), and someone who shows resiliency. It will be easy to tell who seeks to not only better their own spiritual life but others as well. They also will take care of themselves mentally and physically daily. And lastly, they take pride in the school they attend and will look for opportunities to better Wesleyan Christian School.

The type of individual I have just described is seen in my eyes as Ben Hamm. Benjamin Terry Hamm, 16, of Bartlesville Oklahoma, died September 19, 2015. He was born December 12, 1998 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Steve & Misti Hamm. He attended Deer Creek – Lamont Schools from Kindergarten through 8th grade. His family then moved to Bartlesville where Ben attended Wesleyan Christian School 9th -11th grades.
Ben was involved in Football and Baseball for the Wesleyan Mustangs and a member of National Honor Society at Wesleyan Christian School. Ben was also a member of the Dewey Church of Christ where he was very active in his youth group.

Ben was a member of our family. More than a true friend to us all. He is remembered and missed each and everyday. We love him dearly, and wish to continue his legacy.

Ben brought all of these traits to the table and I would love to honor him and the rest of his family by making this scholarship in his name. "The Ben Hamm Character Award". I have committed to provide no less than $1000 as an initial foundation for the scholarship. I have started this "GoFundMe" account where anyone can make donations to go towards this award on top of what I have already provided. When a deadline is reached, I will personally collect all donations and add them to my initial donation, and I will add to the total by whatever I can at the time. Then I will coordinate with the WCS staff to select an individual to receive the award at the end of the year, and I will write a check with a certificate stating that "On behalf of WCS, Steve and Misti Hamm, and Corey Chaney, you are presented with the following award based on your dedication to selfless service, spiritual growth, and leadership characteristics: The Ben Hamm Character Award"

I would love for you to donate towards this scholarship to not only help the selected individual receive a boost for their future, but to also honor the family of Ben Hamm as well as Wesleyan Christian School. Each donation is extremely appreciated and will without a doubt go towards being a blessing in someone's life. Thank you for your unconditional compassion and support.
