Wavensmere Foundation are currently  raising money to support a nine year old boy named Benjamin.

In 2017, Benjamin was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia at just five years old and has been battling ever since.

Having had several rounds of chemotherapy, relapses and one successful bone marrow transplant , Benjamin is now at a difficult point in his journey.

Having hoped to raise enough funds to go to Israel to receive further treatment, Benjamin’s family have had to make the heartbreaking decision to put this on hold as he has had to have a further transplant. This time round the transplant is done using an umbilical cord which has less T cells than bone marrow and therefore means Benjamin’s immune system needs to be built up from scratch.

He therefore needs to shield at home for six months. After having just a glimpse of what staying at home feels like during the course of the pandemic I am sure we can all appreciate just how difficult this is going to be for Benjamin and his family. As the world is opening up to new experiences once again, Benjamin’s world will be within the four walls of his home.

In order to support this brave young boy we would like to appeal for your help. After speaking closely with Benjamin’s Mum to see how we could help Benjamin during this difficult time we discussed the garden at Benjamin’s home. Currently the garden is unsafe and not suitable for use, particularly for Benjamin who must be more careful than others. Wavensmere foundation aims to clear the current garden, start from scratch and create a space in which Benjamin can get fresh air, exercise and improve his mental health and well being through nature.

Please support us by donating whatever you can to ensure Benjamin has something to look forward to and bring some positivity to his current situation.
