Many of you have called me to verify this fundraising and water collecting effort and rightly so. I know there are many campaigns and many that are not honest. I created FAQ. Feel free to call me personally at [phone redacted] if you still have questions.
What is going on in Anguilla?
The 16 miles of the small island of Anguilla has been devastated by Hurricane Irma. If you have ever been to Anguilla you know it is a sanctuary on so many levels, for so many reasons, for so many people from all over the world. The people need water.
Who am I?
My name is T.Barnes. I own T.Barnes Beauty, LLC. I am a licensed esthetician with a beauty brand.
What is my connection to Anguilla?
I first went to Anguilla for a speaking engagement in March 2015. I loved it. May 2015 I was invited back as a guest esthetician and to promote my product line which sells on island. I fell deeper in love with the island and decided to move for the summer with my daughter to run a pop up shop for the summer. The summer lead to 2 stores on island SOLACE Anguilla East and West.
Why am I raising money and collecting water for Anguilla?
I owe a great debt to Anguilla. The people took me in at a time when America was upside down and my heart was broken after the Trayvon Martin verdict, a little opinionated black girl from Texas. They helped me find my way on the island. They have supported everything I have wanted to do.
People always ask me if I have family in Anguilla, I always say no I am from Texas, I just love the West Indies, but the real answer is, YES....I do have family there..they may not be blood but I love them like they are. Right now they need help. People are running out of water and food and there is no way I can just sit around and watch that happen without trying to help.
How is your fundraising and water collection working and going to benefit the people of Anguilla?
We will be using Tropical Shipping to send a 40ft container of WATER ONLY to Anguilla. This will be a 2 part fundraising and water collecting effort. The container and shipment cost $10,000 alone. This Gofundme Campaign will collect money to pay for the shipping cost. We appreciate all your financial donations. This is an avenue if you want to help but can't physically get us water. We will have 3 drop off locations, Bethel, CT, Danbury, CT and Brooklyn, NY. The truck will stop to be loaded in Bethel, CT and Brooklyn, NY on one day only. Any money over the $10,000 raised in the campaign will go to buy more water to fill the container. The truck will transport the shipment to Palm Beach Florida to be shipped. We are in conversation with a NY shipping company that may also be able to ship for a lessor cost. If that happens we will try to send 2 containers of water.

How will the water be distributed on island Anguilla?
I have a committee on island that is working with the relief organizations to distribute the water fairly to those that need it most.
What about duties and taxes?
It was approved that all duties and taxes will be waived.
What can you do?
If you can organize your churches, groups and families to donate water so we are sure to fill the container it would be greatly appreciated. We will also need a crew to load the truck when it's time. We will have 2 hours in each location to get the water on the pallets, wrapped and packed.

What is the accountability for the money and water?
The money that is raised is clearly stated in total on the Gofundme page. All of those monies will be deposited into my non for profit Beyond The Surface Critical Thinking and Social Justice Academy account. All the shipping fees will be paid for out of this account. Every single remaining dollar after the shipping cost will go to purchase more water. A full spreadsheet of all money received and spent, along with receipts will be made public. I will post it as a PDF on the Gofundme link.
