Spende geschützt
Hello,
My name is Courtney Casper and this past season I have been a part of the Maryland High School Rodeo Association. The association gives us kids the opportunity to be a part of the old tradition of rodeo. I have had so much fun on this journey. I have learned a lot between riding and caring for my horse, and the respect and good sportsmanship for myself and others.
It's not over! I still have more to learn as I have qualified to compete in the High School National Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyoming. This year all my hard work has made me Rookie of the Year and Reserve All Around Cowgirl.
The events that I have competed in this year are the barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, break-away calf roping and the working cow horse. I have placed top four in two of my events which is what gives me the chance to head to Wyoming. This is a long and expensive journey and that’s why I am asking for your help. I don't want anyone to think that I do this to show that I am the best at something; I do this because when I put my feet in the stirrups I enter a whole new world and hope this experience will help me as I grow up and make choices for my future. It's not about the problem I had yesterday or that morning, it's about me and my horse overcoming challenges and building our skills. Being a part of this association has not only opened up a new sport to me but a new way of living. Happiness is what you make of it and this experience helps me create my happiness as I mature. I love what I do. I do it for the people who love me, that are my family and friends. I also do it for the people who watch me and support me. The best part, I do it for myself. Life is not about finding yourself it's about creating yourself, and that's hard to do in today’s world. This may not seem to be an accomplishment to anyone but for myself, this opportunity has helped me to overcome my challenges and learning to enjoy great accomplishments.
Some more things I have accomplished were:
· 2nd place in barrel racing,
· 5th place in pole bending,
· 4th place in reined cow horse,
· 6th place in goat-tying and;
· 4th place in break-away calf roping.
I qualified for nationals in two of my events barrel racing and break away that means I need to haul two horses out to Wyoming which is very expensive. To make it there I need to raise $6,000 to fulfill my needs for this trip. I have worked hard to qualify for nationals and now I need to continue to work hard to raise the money to actually go. This is an incredible opportunity for me.
For you, this is an opportunity to sponsor me as an athlete and as a kid with a dream. As young adults we get the wise advice to follow are dreams in this crazy life, and that’s what I am trying to do. If you can donate anything to help me I would be extremely grateful. This is one of the biggest rodeos in the country and I promise to do everything I can to make you proud.
I am completing my junior year at Linganore High School this year, I am already voted in as the Student Vice President for the 2015-2016 season of the association. I believe that making this trip to Wyoming will assist me with my upcoming role in the association but will help me build the skills to mentor other students who share this dream. Finals start on July 13th and last for ten days. I do not have a lot of time to raise money since qualifications were just accomplished. Anything you feel you could contribute would mean more than anything to me.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Courtney Casper
