Kenyon’s Surgery Fund
Hey everyone! As most of you know, Kenyon has had his entire Colon and Rectum removed and he has a permanent Ileostomy. In February 2018 while working security at American Fork Hospital, he was kicked in the stomach by a patient (just 2 months after he had a MAJOR surgery). That one kick caused what’s called a parastomal hernia which is where his small intestine is trying to push through the small gap in between his abdominal wall and his stoma (Google it if you need a better idea of what I’m talking about). It’s caused him SOOO much pain and misery for the last 2 1/2 years, and up until recently he was too high risk for surgery. But on June 9th he developed a major bowel blockage because of that hernia (one of the worst he’s ever had). They did a CT scan and saw that the opening where that looped bowel is has gotten much much more narrow, almost completely cutting it off. He was taken to LDS Hospital and was hospitalized overnight until they could clear the blockage. They have now been forced to operate given the severity and possibility of his hernia becoming “strangulated”, which is where all of the blood flow is cut off. This is obviously life threatening so they’re FINALLY going to repair his hernia on June 29th.
We hate to ask, but we are in desperate need of financial assistance. We need money for the surgery, his hospitalization and ambulance ride on the 9th, and unfortunately he was let go from his job last month due to his health so we’ve been struggling since then as well. I am currently full time in school and I work when I can but it’s not enough to cover our bills. We’ve started selling old things we no longer use to help us get by, but with this surgery coming out of nowhere we need money ASAP.
