We would like to inform our community that one of our devoted supporters of the monastery, Mr. Waruna Sampat, has passed away, leaving behind his widow and three young children. According to Venerable. Anoma, he played a key role in the village community, helping construct the hut in the upper area of the monastery as well as the concrete road leading to it.

He was also instrumental in organising the Kathina ceremony last year and regularly offered alms (the midday meal) to the monastery on the first of every month.

His family currently lives in a clay house with no source of income following his passing - After some consideration, we have decided to organise this fundraiser in support of the family and in gratitude to all the good he has done - both for the monastery and local community.

This is to give those who wish, an opportunity to help the family out if they choose to. Please note all funds from this would go to the family and this is not a donation towards our organisation.

We believe the amounts targeted (3000 CAD) would help the family for about a year.
