My name is Krista Chakmak, and I am running for the BUSD School Board. My husband Alex and I have been married for 10 years, and we have two boys, ages 4 and 6. As a 28-year resident of the District, I feel it is my time to give back to our community by applying my drive and passion to continue BUSD’s legacy of educational excellence.
I began my personal experience with BUSD as an elementary student at Allen Ave. Now, 33 years later, we are preparing to send our son to kindergarten at Roynon. I look forward to my position as Hospitality Chair on the PTA Board this coming school year. As an active member of our community, I dedicate my time to a variety of community outreach projects, including the non-profit Save the Heartbeat Foundation, the Hillcrest Business Associates, and the City of La Verne’s Youth and Family Action Committee. My focus is 'Kids and Community' because I am a passionate advocate for all children and for the power of community to make us safer, stronger and kinder. The areas I see as deserving special focus for the upcoming term are campus safety, children with special needs, music and arts programs, nutrition, teacher retention, and improved emotional support systems for our children. I am a community leader who volunteers from my heart, a neighbor who champions inclusion and connection, and a mother who strives for excellence in all I do. I would appreciate your vote for me, Krista Chakmak to serve on the Bonita Unified School District Board.
