Volunteer Trip in Courtney McCormick's Memory

If you didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Courtney McCormick, let us introduce you to a bit of her story:
A bright and beautiful soul that grew up in a small town right outside of Philadelphia, Courtney became an amazing, strong, and selfless young woman with a passion for mental health and showing others that the beauty of life is so worth working for.
We met Courtney as children, actually, she was the one who introduced us and blessed us all with an amazing unforgettable friendship. Unfortunately, that friendship was abruptly cut short at the beginning of this year when we unexpectedly lost Courtney to a tragic incident. It was an unforeseeable devastation that has changed countless lives of everyone she touched throughout her 21 years of life. The McCormick family took part in raising us (think about dealing with three girls becoming tweens, and eventually teenagers at your house everyday..we love you Tom and Mary!), because of Courtney we were not only given her untouchable friendship, but we were also given some of the most influential people to ever enter our lives. Without even a second thought we were included on family vacations, parties, everything you could imagine. She was truly like a sister to us (and gave us one of those too, the beautiful Victoria!) and losing her has been one of the most difficult battles we’ve ever had to face.
In 2018, Courtney completed a trip to Cambodia and Thailand where she helped build a house for an underprivileged family then headed to an elephant sanctuary to help care for, feed and bathe them. Courtney dreamed of going back because of how humbling it was to help the less fortunate and because of how deeply she loved the elephants she got to encounter. So, in her honor, we have joined a volunteer committee, leaving in the beginning of June to continue her story. We know that she would want us to continue this trip in her name to continue to advocate for the same village she became enthralled with.
Any donations we receive will be used towards the coverage of our volunteer trip with flights and transportation. This includes a two week trip to Cambodia where we will help build a school (or a home-depending on the village’s needs), and then we will travel by Tuk Tuk to Thailand where we will spend time with the “majestic elephants” as Courtney called them to help maintain their sanctuary. We will also be able to experience the tranquil temple, Ta Prohm Temple that Courtney found so peaceful. We need your help though. We ask that if no monetary donations can be made, please give a quick share!
Known for her writing skill that she took so much pride in, we do not want Courtney’s story to end anytime soon. We know that there is more to see, share, and do; and we couldn’t imagine doing it without her by our side. Throughout the many trips we’ve taken with her, we expect this to be the most impactful for the lives of so many other people she may not have had the privilege to meet. Her goal was to make a difference in this world, and we intend to keep that dream alive.
