ART SAVE THE VOTE is a collective of artists creating content to educate and inspire young people driving votes to the 2020 election. We’re currently developing sketches, music videos, dance videos, and even an IGTV interview series! The way we win this election is if younger generations show up to the polls. Bridgette Bianca is a poet and professor from South Central Los Angeles. When she is not sharing her own poetry at venues all around Southern California, she co-curates two literary series, Making Room for Black Women and the Women’s Center for Creative Work Reading Series. be/trouble (Writ Large Press) is her debut collection of poetry.
Jessica Ceballos y Campbell is a curator, community organizer, writer, editor, publisher, designer, and tenants' rights activist, born and raised in northeast Los Ángeles. Her work has been published in numerous journals and in anthologies and she has published three chapbooks: Gent/Re De Place Ing (2016), End of the Road (2017), and Facilitating Spaces 101: part 1 in the "equity in community building: the arts" series (2018), which is intended to weave together three aspects of human agency (person, space, and intention) and how we engage in society building and community in and through the arts. She is currently working on Happiest Place on Earth, a collection of poetry centered around a 1984 visit to Disneyland with her mother while also living in foster care.
José Olivarez is the son of Mexican immigrants. His debut book of poems, Citizen Illegal, was a finalist for the PEN/ Jean Stein Award and a winner of the 2018 Chicago Review of Books Poetry Prize. It was named a top book of 2018 by The Adroit Journal, NPR, and the New York Public Library. Along with Felicia Chavez and Willie Perdomo, he is the co-editor of the anthology, The BreakBeat Poets Vol. 4: LatiNEXT. In 2018, he was awarded the first annual Author and Artist in Justice Award from the Phillips Brooks House Association and named a Debut Poet of 2018 by Poets & Writers. In 2019, he was awarded a Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowship from the Poetry Foundation. His work has been featured in The New York Times, The Paris Review, and elsewhere.
Amir Rabiyah is a trans and two-spirit disabled queer femme poet and writing coach. Their work explores living life on the margins and at the intersections of multiple identities. Amir's first full collection poetry book, Prayers for My 17th Chromosome, available for through Sibling Rivalry Press. This debut collection was a finalist for the Triangle Publishing Award, and an ALA Over the Rainbow pick. Amir is also the co-editor of Writing the Walls Down: A Convergence of LGBTQ Voices and has published in numerous anthologies and journals.
Christopher Rivas is an award winning storyteller, essayist: "New York Times, Modern Love, SwipeLife, Level." Actor: "GLOW, Grey's Anatomy, For the People, SEAL Team, Shameless, Rizzoli & Isles, 2 Broke Girls, Rosewood." Rothschild Social Impact fellow, Teacher, film maker, speaker, and creator of "The Real James Bond... Was Dominican." His mission is to share powerful stories that move us forward, blend boundaries, and encourage dialogue. As a storyteller, he has worked with organizations all over the world, The WWE, United Nations High Commission for Refugees, Safe Place for Youth, LAMP on Skid Row, The Museum of Broken Relationships, The Skirball Cultural Center, UCLA, CalArts, Upworthy, and SoulPancake to name a few. He's also currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Expressive Arts for Global Health & Peace Building from The European Graduate School.
