VOICE of local small businesses

Donation protected
UPDATE: We have raised $1,787.50 (as of date) through GoFundMe and your direct donations! Thank you for your continued support!

We are a husband-and-wife team telling stories through our photography and writing. VOICE  is a unique local support project that we started during the pandemic to encourage small business owners like ourselves to keep strong, united and positive.

It started off from a simple stroll through our own neighbourhood that lead to discoveries of unique shops right under our nose.  We got to know many of them through our interactions and learned how many of those business owners supported and cheered each other on. Those kinds of honest conversations turned into over 100 amazing interviews with local small businesses since April 2020. We tell their stories through our own photography, write-ups and videos. We believe this content introduces people to their local small business owners in their community in a very intimate and meaningful way.

VOICE raises awareness of how important local small businesses are at keeping our communities vibrant and strong. VOICE hopes to bring about some positive change to how we all live, shop, and eat for a better and sustainable future.

VOICE also gives back to the community by donating 50% of the funds to local charities as a way to invest in initiatives that help grow a more socially responsible community. We support charities that are dedicated to cleaning the environment, empowerment of youth, and any other pressing issues that may come up.

We are currently partnered with two environmental education charities; Ocean Ambassadors Canada and Cheakamus Center.

Ocean Ambassadors Canada  is a not-for-profit organization from the North Shore, working to save the oceans from the problem of plastic pollution. We are sponsoring a class of children from low income schools in Vancouver to attend their Ocean Camp this summer. The Ocean Camp incorporates fun, education, self-awareness, skill development, and meaningful connections to nature.

Cheakamus Center  is an environmental and Indigenous cultural education facility located on 165 ha of ecological reserve near Squamish. We are supporting their Adopt-A-School program to invite Cultural Journey School students of Squamish to learn and experience the land, water, and creatures that inhabit our local river systems and coastal rainforest.

Knowledge is power. We would like to provide children who face financial barriers an opportunity to learn, to explore, and to create.
Your kind contribution can help us continue with our project, support local small businesses, and make a difference for future generations.

We like to share a moment of gratitude to all the hard-working, local small business owners whom inspired us to tell their stories. We also thank you in advance for taking an interest in our causes. If you have any questions, or would like to become a fundraising partner, please contact us.

Note: Please ask us directly for a donation receipt if you need one. Thank you.
