Childcare support

Hi, my name is Brooke when I had my son I was near the end of obtaining my college degree in Educational Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Since my son’s arrival I have had to put that on the back burner and get a full-time job. I have not had financial support from his father, but I do receive some assistance which helps cover a portion of the costs for his childcare. Even with the assistance I still have to pay up to $700.00 a month for his quality childcare.

I currently am a Special Education Aide in a Title 1 elementary school which helps provide services for those that are underprivileged. Before that I worked for a Childcare program for 4 years.  I love what I do because I get to see the progress that my students make daily. It also warms my heart that they will call out to me on the playground just to come over to give me a hug. 

Now that I work in an elementary school I can see the value of what great childcare can provide for the early ages. I have witnessed great childcare in the school that my son attends. It would break my heart to have to pull him out of his current place of care. I have seen him blossom and create friendships which I wish would continue.
