We were married in July of 2016 and by the start of September we were ecstatic to find out we were expecting. After our doctors visit we both were excited and looking forward to May 2017. Unfortunately, we had a miscarrage and upon trying again after the miscarrage we had an ectopic pregnancy.
My wife had fibroids, so many that they had to be removed 5 years ago. When one of those many fibroids had been removed it also took part of her uterine muscle. Even though she have fully recovered parts of the uterine wall are very thin. To the point that if she were to be pregnant and carry past 14 weeks it would put both my wife's life and the unborn child's life in danger.
Our next step is to meet with an infertility doctor and discuss our options. Shelly and I would love to have a child(ren) of our own which means finding a surrogate to carry for us or going through the adoption process. After many hours of research suragacy is a definte possiblity, since we were able to get pregnant previously. Both suragacy and adoption though reputauble agencies are costly.
Option #1: We would love to have our own childern, but an IVF egg retrival will cost $33,710. This will be the first step if we can find a surrogate to carry our child(ren).
Option #2: Adoption. The cost for adoption can range from $20,000-40,000.
We are both excited to start our family, but being two working class adults we will struggle to save the funds needed to begin our family.
