*Update*

Nova had her consult with the Veterinary Specialist today. They are just so so nice there!! The good news is that she is an excellent candidate for the ACL repair surgery even given her age. The bad news is that the cost is more than we expected at $5585. Haylee is really struggling with this due to full time school expenses and not being able to work more than 2 shifts per week. Those shifts cover her car payment and insurance. But Nova is her baby. Her “person”. She can’t just choose to not do the surgery. The cost of the consult today was $285 and thankfully the money from the gofundme covered that and the needed meds and pre-op labs she needs prior to surgery. Surgery is scheduled for next Thursday June 19th and the full amount will be due that morning. If you are able to help even with just a few dollars it would be so appreciated. We thank you all so much for giving, sharing the post and praying for sweet Nova. She means the world to us!!

Words from my sister-in-law about her precious pup

"As many of you know, Nova has been by my side since I rescued her when she was just 4 weeks old. She has been my best friend and my side kick for the last decade.

She often forgets how old she is, and tries to run and play like she is just a young pup, because in her heart she is. Yesterday morning she was outside playing, when she saw a deer and took off chasing after it. Given her past history and surgery, she has some deficits and so when she came back to the house limping that wasn’t really out of the ordinary after she played to hard. However, when I came home after school she could not get up, or walk and was in a lot of pain. I rushed her to urgent care, and after many tests and X-rays, we have discovered she has a torn ACL on her back left leg.

The vet explained everything to me, and informed me she would need to see a specialist for surgery. All of this has been very expensive, and her estimated surgery is also very expensive. I have already maxed my care credit card out paying for her recent visits. With me being a full time college student, and only being able to work 2 days a week, it has already been financially hard. I know times are hard for everyone, and some might even say “she’s just a dog”, but to me she is my very best friend and my family. Any and all donations to help me raise enough money to pay for her upcoming surgery and upcoming vet bills would be so appreciated."
