Veterinary Student's Externship Fund

Hi everyone! As probably everyone knows, I am a Veterinary Student and a huge part of my education towards being the best DVM I can be, is to attend externships during breaks from class. This summer, while I am a rising 3VM, I have the opportunity to spend two weeks in Indiana at a externship to help me expand my small animal, and exotic animal training! I am VERY excited to be able to do this, however, I need a bit of financial help getting there.

I plan on driving from Texas, to Indiana as a way to save money- foregoing airfare, and a rental car. 14 nights in a hotel is going to cost right around $1000. I will also be responsible for buying my own meals, and fuel.

This externship does, generously, offer a $500/week stipend to be paid when I am finished which will really help in getting to the next externship opportunity, and next 2 years I have to complete at Veterinary School.

Right now, I am almost completely living on my student loans due to a chronic illness brought on by a West Nile Virus infection I contracted in January of 2024. That is largely why I am here, asking for support from my friends and family, because my ability to work (shoeing horses) has been greatly impacted and my plan on being able to largely live off of my farrier income through school has completely fallen apart.

By the end of the Spring 2025 semester, I will be out of student loan money from the Spring disbursement, and I do not get my Fall Semester disbursement until the beginning of August.

Every dollar I can have donated toward this externship, and its associated expenses, is a dollar that I either don't have to take out in loans, or will have from my loans to continue covering my costs-of-living through my 3rd and 4th year.
