Veteran, Teacher, Minority Farmer teaching others!

Donation protected
I am a husband, father, proud veteran, award-winning high school Social Studies teacher.  As a Land Owner, I created a USDA Farm in my late 50’s.  I am an African American.  Although that is how I see myself, the world does not see me in the order I wrote.  My path has been an upward battle that I conquer day by day.  My goal is to teach others the importance of whole food and land ownership.

The heritage of farming is in my family; my grandfather was a tobacco farmer.   As a teacher, I know families who live in food deserts (even new pandemic food deserts).  I see it in my own community.  The pandemic has inspired me to become food secure and help others.  It started with a vegetable garden and four chickens, last school break over the summer.  This spring the garden & flock have expanded two fold.   Presently, I give vegetables and eggs to those in need. This summer I project to double the chicken flock & garden, again.  The goal Is to put in place farm infrastructure and to get my USDA Farm to be certified for organic growing. Through my community service (giving eggs/vegetables to my neighbors in need), I will engage local under served churches and help address food insecurities through education and teach others the importance of growing their own food.  Teaching Land ownership is also a key subject.    The next goal will be create a Brown Dog Worx Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) opportunity.  More to come on this.  We have goals after this, too!
This huge endeavor will take help from you.  Please consider to assist me to grow, teach & help others.  Thank you!
