Veteran With a Family of Six Left Homeless

Hi my name is Bernice Hiebert and I am asking for donations to help our neighbor who just had their home confiscated by the Rural Municipality of Whitehead in Alexander Manitoba. It breaks my family's heart that anyone has to endure what this family has had to deal with.

Meet the McDermot-Fouts family.

Zak is a Sargeant in the Artillery with 1RCHA in Shilo MB who has served

overseas in two combat tours in his nineteen years of service.

Nicole was a nurse of 12 years including through the Pandemic. She is now a stay at home mom to their four children who are 6,5,2 and 4 months old.

On October 30, 2023 Nicole was home with her two youngest children. At the time her husband was travelling with the other two children 8 hours away but on their way home. In the early morning Nicole received a knock at the door. She was served with a warrant and was told she had twenty minutes to pack up her belongings so the four year old mobile home could be confiscated due to petty by law issues that they were in the process of remedying. Building movers and a packing company were there to remove the home and pack the contents into a seacan storage container that was placed at the door.

Their mobile home was confiscated that day.

Imagine within hours your home disrupted and confiscated!

This family had established in the 9.5 years of living on this property a substantial

number of livestock which Zak is now tending to by living in the heated garage

they have on their property. Nicole and the four children have been living between hotels and staying with family two hours away. From the very beginning this family has had to deal with the heavy hand of this Rural Municipality Council.

Court cases are in the process but are costly as is losing a home.

This family has seen over reach from By Laws enforced by the RM of Whitehead

over petty property safety issues which they were willing to remedy. They are in need of funds to help out with mounting legal costs and temporary housing.
