Freedom Lodge's Firestarter Iniative

Freedom Lodge non-profit has created “Firestarters,” a program designed to provide firewood to Elders on the Pine Ridge reservation during the winter months.Our elders have an urgent need to supplement their heating needs with firewood because many times power is disrupted on the reservation due to snow, hail and wind. Hypothermia is an issue for our communities, and tribal members are 30 times more likely to suffer an injury from hypothermia compared to local residents.

During the 2019-2020 winter months Freedom Lodge will collect firewood and deliver it directly to homes that need it for heating.This fundraiser will support us to purchase a new flatbed stake truck and 4 chainsaws to facilitate this program.
