Venezuela180° was founded by a Venezuelan in New Brunswick, Canada, his friends and a journalist in Caracas, Venezuela, with the simple idea to help realize a 180-degree shift in Venezuela.
At its inception, Venezuela180° did this through providing humanitarian aid, sponsoring low-income Venezuelans who required expensive medical treatments and telling positive stories of Venezuelans making a difference in their community.
We delivered food to 5 organizations in Venezuela in 5 different cities: Maturin, Caracas, Zulia, Valencia and Barquisimeto. We published 20 stories and four videos highlighting positive stories to combat the negative portrayal of the country in mainstream media. In 2019, we partnered with Feeding Smiles to cover medical and food expenses for eight low-income patients, including cancer treatments and surgeries.
In 2020, we decided to shift our model away from humanitarian aid to community development. We believe by supporting impactful community projects we can become a more sustainable organization and help build stronger communities for the future of Venezuela.
Mission: Partner with organizations in Venezuela to build and enhance trust and empowerment through impactful community development projects
Vision: Through this work, we hope to see a 180-degree shift in Venezuela from a country of extreme crisis to a country of extreme potential. We envision empowered people building stronger communities for the future of Venezuela.
Values: Trust, Community and Empowerment
