Venezuelan Refugee Assistance

I have an acquaintance who is a refugee from Venezuela. He had to leave everything behind; his house, his paid off cars, his money. He had everything in Venezuela. He is over 60, with a family and is trying to make it in the U.S. without government assistance. His is the story of my Grandfather. His story is reminiscent of the Cuban refugees; the story of the failure of Socialism.
He is in the process of starting a business and almost has all his permits. He has been working multiple jobs, including driving for Uber which has been a net negative due to the rental of the car from them.
He’s behind $2500 on his rent and needs "a hand up" (as opposed to hand-out) to be able to breathe and begin his work. He needs the money ASAP so that he is not evicted. (rent is due again on 2/1/2020)
The way he described it to me is that he has a knife at his throat. The man swallowed his pride to speak with me because he knows very few people here. He confided in me for advice. I am hoping that we know someone with the means that is willing to help him, or at the very least, collectively we can help him.
The number of Venezuelans leaving their country has reached 4 million, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and IOM, the International Organization for Migration, announced today. Globally, Venezuelans are one of the single largest population groups displaced from their country.
From some 695,000 at the end of 2015, the number of refugees and migrants from Venezuela had skyrocketed to over 4 million by mid-2019, according to data from national immigration authorities and other sources.
I would be very grateful for any amount of assistance. He has no idea that I am doing this, and considering the story of my family having received a "hand up" when they came to the U.S., its the least I can do.
