Three Peaks Challenge by Bike

Tax deductible
This summer we will be embarking on an epic expedition in the name of sustainability, veganism and adventure. We wanted the ultimate UK challenge so we thought of the Three Peaks Challenge, but, as we're pretty mad about cycling, we are going to be completing the Three Peaks Challenge by bike. That means cycling at least 497 miles (it's going to be closer to 550) and climbing the three tallest peaks in the UK (Snowdon, Scafell Pike & Ben Nevis).  Our challenge is to complete this mammoth task in 7 days and we want to prove two tree hugging vegans can do it!

The challenge is going to be pretty bonkers and is really going to test our levels of mental strength, fitness, stupidity and planning. It will be completely unassisted so we will be carrying all of our equipment on our bikes and camping along the way. Because of this, it makes the whole event extremely sustainable and almost zero-carbon. At this time of year snow is quite likely to be on the peaks and weather conditions will not be ideal. We need to get the perfect balance of suitable equipment so we don't get lost or freeze to death whilst still being able to carry it on our bikes roughly 100 miles a day.

After living in Asia it really opened our eyes to the shocking environmental impacts that are going on around the world. It made us appreciate this beautiful place we all live in and we want to do as much as we can to protect it. This challenge we hope can create environmental awareness and all of the money raised will be going to Friends of the Earth. If it wasn't for this charity we would be living in a much darker, more polluted world.

AND

We also want to show that one of the hardest challenges in the UK can be completed with a plant based diet.  We want to promote sustainable lifestyles and motivate others to have incredible adventures without spending a whole bunch of money, eating meat and having a negative impact on the environment.

Throughout the summer we're going to be training crazy hard to make this challenge possible. Unfortunately Cambridge is unbelievably flat so we'll be coming to a hill near you to get our knees in shape for the pain it's going to endure in the months to come. Keep your eyes peeled here to see how our training is going, and if you know of any decent hills in the South East of England then please let us know!
