Help the Neupane family.

My name is Colin Downing, originally from the United States, but currently residing in Kathmandu, Nepal. As many of you probably already know on April 25, Nepal began suffering from a series of devastating earthquakes. These earthquakes have been of magnitudes of 7.8, 6.7, 7.3 and hundreds of aftershocks above 4.0. These earthquakes have caused severe destruction over many districts of Nepal, including where I live and places I have visited.


The week before the earthquake I participated in Explore Nepal. This is a program at our school which begins in fourth grade and goes through twelfth grade. Each grade spends additional time outside of school and interacts with the people of Nepal. This year my fifth grade class spent three days and two nights with the Neupane family in Patlekhel Village, Kavre, Nepal. During the program we slept in their home, ate their local food, learned about organic farming and hiked to visit a monastery.


Sadly the earthquakes have destroyed the Neupane family home. Although they remain in high spirits, the family is forced to live under a small tarp. Because of their current living situation, they are vulnerable to attacks from dangerous wildlife. With monsoon rapidly approaching,this temporary shelter will not last for long. It is estimated to cost up to eight thousand dollars to rebuild the home. In a community where the per capita income is less than 800 dollars a year, these organic farmers make much less. Please help me in raising enough funds to rebuild their home to better seismic standards. All funds raised will be given directly to the Neupane family.


I'm scheduled to leave by the 2nd week of June and would like to deliver the funds to the Neupanes before I leave.
