Vandra Drake Family Fund

Many of you in Madison County know the family of Eric and Valarie Drake. They have five children: Devin, Myra, Vandra, Kara, and Branson. They live in Colbert where all of the children went though Colbert Elementary and Madison County Middle School. Devin and Myra graduated from Madison County High School and Kara and Branson currently attend. Eric is a truck-driver and Valarie is a part-time stay-at-home mom and substitute for the school system. 



This average family suffered a tragic loss this week. Their sweet daughter Vandra passed away last Thursday night. While small in stature, Vandra had a giant personality. She was able to brighten any day with her beautiful and genuine smile. She was a good and loyal friend to all those that gave her a chance. She also had the spirit of a fighter. She never backed down from any challenge and accomplished so much in her 17 years. The impact that she made in the lives of others is immeasurable.  She will be greatly missed and our memories of her will be forever cherished.


Many friends and community members have asked how they could support this wonderful family while they grieve. While nothing can be done to make their family whole again, the time to grieve and hopefully heal as a family is important. The proceeds from this account will go to the Drake family to help with any immediate needs as well as needs they may have while going through this process. They should not have to worry about finances at this time. This family has done so much for others in the past and I hope that we, as a community, can help them now.
