Valley's journey in the NICU

5/14/25 - update:

Day 23. Things haven't changed much which kinda sucks. She is still working on getting her feeds up and no de-sats. She has been working harder to breathe so she is now on oxygen, again. We will see if that helps. One step forward, three steps back. Please continue to pray and share!

Hello! My name is Katie. My husband, Travis, and I have a 5.5yo daughter named, Everleigh! We were due with our second daughter on 6/6, but she had other plans! At 1am on 4/18, my water broke. I was admitted to GBMC and given lots of medications to stop labor. The plan was to keep her in until 34wks for the best chance at no NICU, I was 32w2d when we arrived. They stopped labor and we hung out for a few days. My contractions started picking up again and they decided it was best to get her out via csection. I was petrified because this was supposed to be a scheduled csection and not emergent like last time... IYKYK. Valley Rose was born on 4/21 at 4:29pm, weighing 5lbs, and 17.6". I was able to see her for just a minute before she was taken to then NICU. We were unable to hold her until day 3. She was in an isolette, on a cpap, heart rate monitor, 02 monitor, and had a feeding tube. She now is in a crib, with a heart rate monitor, 02 monitor, and a feeding tube. She is working on eating from a bottle (so we can kick the tube to the curb) and keeping her sats up! We are unsure of when she is able to come home as there is a long checklist she has to pass!

I created this gofundme to help cover the costs of gas, food, necessities at home, things needed for Valley and of course Big Sis Evey!

Unfortunately, I do not get paid maternity leave.

We are traveling back and forth from Bel Air to GBMC once, most of the time twice a day! Still keeping up with Everleigh's sports/activities and making sure she feels the love, too!

This has been hard on everyone. Any little bit helps and is greatly appreciated.
