Help Cover Funeral Costs For My Mothers Burial

Hi. My name is Richard, and this GoFundMe is for my mother, Debbie. On the 21st of January, I got a call from my father. My mother had been having difficulty breathing and there was blood in her urine. After taking her to the Emergency room, what we thought was an ulcer turned out to be stage 4 pancreatic cancer. The physician informed us that it had spread to her lungs, and that she had pneumonia on top of all of this. Later that day she was admitted to the hospital. After extensive testing we were informed that the cancer had spread to her lungs, liver, kidneys, stomach, and bloodstream. My dad, who is barely able to walk, spent most of his waking hours at the hospital by her side. He held her hand, fed her, gave her water, and ensured she was as comfortable as she could be during what we thought was the beginning of her battle, which turned out to be her last days. Briefly after my father had left the hospital to run some errands, he received the call that she had passed away… there is a silver lining, however. The doctors were unsure if she was strong enough for chemo/radiation, and while losing her so suddenly is tragic and heartbreaking, you could consider this as an answer to my dad’s prayer to not let her suffer.

From the day she was diagnosed, to her last day here with us on earth, there was less than 4 days. Because this was so sudden and unexpected, and because he has no income and relies on his disability check to live, he has not had the time to save enough money to pay for funeral arrangements. We’re all extremely heartbroken and he has so many things on his plate now that the last thing I want him to worry about is having enough money to have his wife buried. After two weeks, they’re going to start charging him $95 per day until he has collected enough money to pay for the expenses. This is completely unfair, and I can’t believe that they don’t have any payment plans for low-income families. My father is surviving off $400 a month, how can he afford to pay $1,300 for funeral arrangements? I’m going to help where I can but there is no way for us to come up with that amount of money in this short of a time frame.
