Caine's Yale University Experience

Hello!

My name is Caine Knuckles a junior attending Minneapolis Southwest High School in Minneapolis, MN.  Through understanding, dedication and perseverance I have grown to exemplify the characteristics of a student athelete and leader.

I am seeking your support in raising money to attend the 2016 National Student Leadership Conference - Engineering Session at Yale University from July 26, 2016 to August 3, 2016.  This is an annual career and leadership conference for a select group of outstanding high school students.  Over the past 27 years there have been student from over 70 different countries that have particiaped in the conference.   I was nominated by my school principal and counslor to represent Minneapolis Southwest High School based upon my academic acheivement and leadership qualities;
and was therefore pre-approved to attend the conference.

The entire cost of this once in a life time experience for me is $4,300.  I need to raise $1000.00 by April 16th, and my final installment of $2,950 by May 15, 2016.  I have already made my first installment payment of $350.   I am vested!  The money raised will cover the cost of the  leadership conference ($2,995), airfare (up to $1,000) and ground transportation to and from Yale University ($205).   If I am able to secure airfare for less than  the stated amount; any remaining funds will be used to purchase some professional attire which is required for the conference or luggage.

This conference will provide me the opportunity to deepen my exploration of engineering as a career, provide me an in-depth perspective on college selection, broaden my understanding of what real opportunities exist for students of color within the elite universities in America and to continue my development as a servant leader within my school and community.    To be able to walk the halls of Yale, learn from renown professors, visit historic engineering sites and engage student from across the globe is a life changing experience.  My parents have worked really hard and supported me every step of my life without question.  This is my opportunity to step up and make this trip happen (with YOU) as way of saying thank you to them for all that they have sacrificed for me.

How great does this sound... An African American male National Honors Society member from North Minneapolis attending Yale University for an elite student leadership conference.  That's music to my ears and I hope to yours too!

Please take the opportunity to make an investment in my future and the future of our countries ability to compete in a global economy; I have!  In addition, I would be honored to represent the generosity, compassion and high integrity that each of you exhibit by supporting me my while I am attending the conference at Yale University.  Thank you in advance for your well wishes, encouragement and financial contribution.   I have included a little treat of my basketball skills for you. Going to work on the court!

Sincerely,

Caine Alexander Knuckles "Clutch"
