Urgent Surgery for Our Beloved Dog Remi
Donation protected
My family has been searching for a dog to be part of our family for a while now, and about two months ago we came across Remi. I went to the shelter immediately after work one day to see him and just knew he was the one the second he ran up to me. Even based on what we know he’s gone through in his past, he is still just the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet and he will forever be our fur baby. On January 6th, Remi was struck by a car. We immediately took him to our local vet to get X-rays done, give him some fluids, and make sure he’s okay, but he ended up needing more care than they could provide. They transferred us to an emergency animal vet in Ithaca that stabilized him, and they told us Remi’s pelvis is broken and that he needs surgery for a plate to be put on his hip area. Remi is all around just an amazing dog! He is a purebred Treeing Walker Coonhound, and till we have the chance to bring him out in the woods again once he’s all healed up, he is an absolute sweetheart of a family dog. Even though he’s obviously not “lap-sized”, he will 100% believe he can sit right on your lap and cuddle. Remi is only 2. He still has his whole life ahead of him. Doing this surgery will drastically shorten his recovery time by making sure his leg is attached to his spine properly. He will still have 6-8 weeks of healing but Remi needs this surgery to be “normal” again!
