Support for Urgent Home Repair

URGENT REPAIR NEEDED

My name is Winter McFarland- and I am raising funds for crucial repairs on my sweet grandparents' home.

The McFarlands have been committed to serving all communities they have spent time in, especially the place they've called home for over a decade, Lā'ie, Oahu, HI.

The roof and main support of the house on the ocean-facing side is decaying rapidly- which has caused the fascia to fall and the inner middle support along with the entire wall and roof to be compromised.

Maintenence has been hard to keep up on the last few years, since my last visit just two years ago it has tripled in damage due to exposure to high salty winds and heavy rain.

The walls on both the inside and outside are softening to the touch, the ceiling is beginning to sag, light/air come in from the outside through various holes in the wall and the base of the entire room are lined in towels during heavy storms.

Because of the current exposure and lack of preventative measure, I fear two more years will not be realistic for the house's life, even just one or two decent storms will wreak havoc.

Quotes and prices are high and though they always seem to deal well, times are tough, and they are truly deserving of the grace they have always been willing to give so freely.

My hope is to start with $18,000- quoted for more, but am confident that if we can gather the supplies that enough hands and minds will come together for the rest. Whatever is left over will help immensely with smaller, less dangerous repairs to assure a comfortable and secure home.

It doesn't need to be pretty, it just needs to be safe.
