We are a small group of community organizers, trusted cultural workers, and neighbors who deeply care and love our neighbors.
Despite what the media says, ICE activity continues across Minnesota and the threat has not subsided. The need for sustained, reliable support remains urgent. Your support in February supported about 40 families and this fund will help ensure these families can continue to meet basic needs and maintain stability during an ongoing and uncertain time.
Many of the families we are connected with rely on caregivers and providers, who have not been able to work because it has become unsafe for them to leave their homes for fear of being detained. Continuity of support is essential as community (economical, psychological, systemic, familial, etc) harm from ICE continues and will continue to be felt long after Operation Metro Surge “ends”. The reintegration of community members into the workforce will take time. There may be community financial needs we haven’t yet considered as we continue to deal with current ICE terror and longer term impacts.
This mutual aid fund will provide direct, immediate financial support to families we are connected to in our community, as well as others who continue to reach out in need.
We are hoping to cover the cost of rent, utilities, groceries, legal expenses, and other financial needs these families may face in the coming weeks and months.
The Process and How Your Donation Helps
Our team includes trusted community organizers who are well-connected within the refugee and immigrant communities. What started as food support has turned into a safe space for people to reach out to during a time of crisis. We receive requests directly from families, assess urgent needs, and coordinate financial support.
We maintain secure records to ensure accountability, including tracking requests and confirming payments are sent. Depending on the situation, support may be delivered through secure transfers (Zelle, Venmo, Cash App), checks, or cash to the families.
Privacy & Safety
For the sake of privacy and safety, these families must remain anonymous.
We strive to protect people's privacy to allow them to stay safe in their homes so proof will not be shared with donors unless requested directly.
As a donor, please know that and be okay with it when considering whether to donate.
Thank you for your compassion, your generosity, and your solidarity. Together, we can help keep families safe in their homes and
provide immediate support.
