Urgent Medical Help for Moose's Seizure Treatment

For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Jackie O’Neill. I am a mom of 3, as well as a dog mom of 2. My kids and my dogs are my absolute life. I’m fundraising to help with medical costs of our precious dog, Moose. Recently, my family and I went through a pretty traumatic event when our puppy, who is only 1 year old, started having seizures. This started Friday night, August 9th. What was just a normal night, everything seemed fine. Moose had followed me upstairs like he always does to get into bed and snuggle up against me.

I had just fallen asleep but being a mom, you’re never truly asleep and can always feel when something's not right. Moose had woken up and was acting very strange, not responding to his name, panting, and just walking around the bed. I knew something was not right when he wasn’t responding to me, that was when he started his first seizure. I immediately packed him up and went to Blue Pearl Vet Hospital with my 14-year-old. On the way, he ended up having three more seizures and losing his bowels. They stated he should stay overnight & immediately started him on medicine. My daughter and I did not get home until 4am.

I received a call that morning letting us know he had no more seizures overnight and he was stable. They gave us the clear and said we could come up and visit him with the kids. Upon visiting him Saturday around 6 PM, he had a seizure while we were there. It was so scary for the kids and I to see. Especially my 4-year-old, who Moose is his absolute best friend! At that time, we were unfortunately asked to leave and cut our visit short. The nurse did inform me at that moment he had two more in the afternoon. He is currently in the ICU on infusion because he was not responding to the seizure medication.

They tried to lower the infusion medication to wean him off and he ended up having a seizure and went right back up to the dosage. This is a big financial burden on us being as he’s been there since Friday along with the medications and they do suggest we do an MRI to try and get a diagnosis. The neurologist is in on Monday therefore we have another overnight while continuing on the infusion to stabilize him. Any financial support and/or prayers would be greatly appreciated!

The next step is getting the diagnosis while figuring out the long-term goals for him, and if there is any quality of life with steroids. Along with the long-term medications cost. We are not ready to stop this fight, Unfortunately the financial cost may put us at a halt.
