URGENT: Marshmallow Legal Battle with Sarah Smolak!

Friends, supporters, and fellow animal lovers — we need your help now more than ever.

As many of you know, we are in an ongoing legal battle to bring home our beloved dog, Marshmallow, who was being fostered by Sarah Smolak, and never returned to us. We previously filed a civil action for replevin (return) of Marshmallow and had our first court hearing this past Tuesday. It was two emotional and draining hours in court, but we went in determined to fight for the truth.

But here’s what broke our hearts the most:

When Smolak was questioned under oath, she answered every question except the most important one:

“What were the circumstances upon which you no longer possess Marshmallow?”

To that, Smolak exercised her fifth amendment right against self incrimination.

LET THAT SINK IN!

Smolak refused to say what happened to our dog — the dog we love, the dog we’re fighting every day to bring home. That moment crushed us, but it also made it clear: we cannot give up.

To make things worse, Smolak has now filed a countersuit against us — claiming we harmed her reputation through “false” claims”, that have caused her to suffer “extreme emotional damage”.  Is this yet another tactic to exhaust us emotionally and financially?

If it is, it’s working.

We have already poured everything into this fight — time, energy, and every dollar we could raise. In order to continue the legal battle to get Marshmallow back, we need to urgently raise another $6,000 to pay our attorney fees. We will not give up until Marshmallow is home.
