Hello, I am Amber, a friend of Tosha and also a coworker. My dear friend has had a lot on her plate in general. As of last night, her youngest child Mazie (the white pup) had a terrible, shocking accident! She lives in a 3-story apartment building with no elevator. They were in the hallway on the 3rd floor when Mazie got the zoomies like our children do! So cute!!! But last night, Mazie leaped into the air and cleared easily the half wall where the stairs start. She fell 25 feet down to the first floor!!!
Not landing on the flat surface of a hard floor, but the stairs before the landing. I can’t even picture the traumatic event as a dog owner and a parent! Unable to do anything as it happened fast, she rushed down the stairs to comfort Mazie, and Mazie was in a lot of pain, unable to walk or move too much. Tosha cried out, screaming for help! She rushed poor Mazie to the emergency vet. Mazie has a bad high fracture that is very painful with no way to cast or splint due to where it’s at on her leg. Tosha received the bad news that little Mazie has to have an amputation with repair to save her quality of life and suffering. Tosha once again is a loyal, safe person who cares deeply for all! She is a great therapist as well. She has been in shock and unable to do anything, just hide and take it all in alone. She has taken off work and will need to take time off to care for Mazie until she raises the money needed for care. As I said, they live on the 3rd floor without an elevator. She needs waterproof items, dog pads, help with the vet deposit, surgery, aftercare, healing, and follow-up. Vet care is very expensive! On top of that, Tosha needs food to stay strong and work her way through this event. She needs her utilities paid, her rent paid, gas to get back and forth to the vet, and eventually work until money starts coming in. As a therapist, we make ZERO money if we do not see people; there is no base pay or funds to pull from.
Please help spread the word, share where you can! Anything helps towards any of this! She has friends for support emotionally and to help with laundry needs for them, cleaning supplies, and some food.
She will need a total of $6,900 for surgeries.
She will need a deposit of $2,604 before surgery can happen.
She needs $50.00 to hold the surgery date.
She is without funds and needs rent help and bill help as well.
Depending on how long it takes to raise money for this and time off work, she could need $15,000-$20,000 to feel safe, secure, and not have this huge cloud over her head of decisions like, 'Can I pay rent or a bill, or do I need to eat?'
She is resourceful and is trying for grants, but that’s a process and not guaranteed.
She utilizes pantries for herself and her dogs.
She is calling everyone she knows. This includes exes, long-ago friends, family members, and more in a fight-or-flight survival state of mind on no sleep and all the stuff humans have with no sleep, mental health, and being scared.
