Imagine this: You are chronically unable to breathe properly. You can't run. You can't jump. You can't play with your friends. Your condition is worse than an asthmatic with pneumonia (Trust me, I've been there). And there is no medication, no non-invasive treatment options to fix the hole in your chest. You will die without surgery.

That is Charlotte's reality.

Meet Charlotte. She is a 6-month-old kitten who was discovered breathing very strangely in Waco, Texas.

Using X-rays, it was determined that Charlotte has a hernia in her diaphragm due to blunt force trauma.

The diaphragm is responsible for separating the pericardial and peritoneal cavities, thus keeping their respective organs in their cavities.

In Charlotte's case, her herniated diaphragm has allowed the organs on the right side of her abdomen to get trapped in her chest with her lungs and her heart. This type of injury has put a MASSIVE amount of strain on her lungs. Her organs are at constant risk of being damaged and losing blood circulation.

She doesn't show it, but she is breathing with less than 25% of the lung space she needs. (Pictured below is her lung field. There is very little air in them.)

Charlotte will die as she grows. This injury cannot NOT be operated on and will require a Board Certified Surgeon to give her the best chance of survival.

We have now found the perfect surgeon for Charlotte over at Central Texas Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital.

But the procedure is estimated to be $4,000-$5,000....
