Hello everyone,

I am raising funds on behalf of my friend, Ellie, who needs urgent dental care for a severe infection as soon as possible. She was quoted around $7000 for all the dental work (excluding the price for crowns) in order to save her teeth and treat the infection in her teeth and jawbone which her insurance won't cover (she has applied for CDCP already). She is a recently graduated student who does not have the funds for such a large expense. The dental care includes root canals and apicectomy surgery for her front 3 teeth. She urgently needs this done before the infection worsens and spreads as it is already very alarmingly large, and millimeters from spreading into her blood vessel and airways. I am posting this fundraiser for her as she prefers not to have her personal information online but all funds will go towards her dental treatment, and we provide photo evidence of her teeth below.

In the 2nd grade she got into an accident which left her front teeth permanently damaged, leading her to get crowns on her front 4 teeth at a very young age. Dental care has advanced a lot over the years, so the work she had done as a child is not up to the standards we have now, leaving her with severe complications.

The root of her teeth has been infected due to a failed root canal, leading to two large infections which have spread and affected 3 teeth so far. The teeth underneath the crowns are severely decayed and infected. These are very large infections that could burst at any moment and are millimeters spreading into a nearby blood vessel and air way, so not getting it treated it not an option. She needs help as soon as possible before this happens.

Because she is still young we want to save the teeth if we can. The dentist recommends redoing the root canal and also performing apicectomy surgery with bone graft in order to treat the infections as soon as possible. Because she has outdated crowns, these would need to be remade to today's standards as well if the surgery is successful.

She does not have good insurance, and they will not cover most of the expense. She was given a quote of around $7000 which she cannot afford. She already paid $500 for a CBCT scan out of pocket in order for them to better understand how far the infection has spread and how to treat it, and she could barely afford to do that. Her parents cannot help her either, as they are a low-income family. They started a restaurant just months before COVID hit, and their business went under, leaving them in a financial crisis ever since.

This is her teeth under the crowns, as you can see they are severely decayed and infected. The 2 teeth next to them are also affected but cannot be seen as the crowns are still on them.

This is an X-ray image of the root tips above her front teeth. The large black hole is all infection; normal, healthy teeth won't have black gaps there.

This is the CBDT scan, the hole at the top is her sinus cavity which is supposed to be there, however you can see two huge gaping holes above her front teeth, which is all bone loss from her infection eating her jawbone. Normal, healthy bone should not have any holes there at all for reference.

Here is a X-ray side view of one of the infections, the top is her sinus cavity, and the black hole in the middle, above her root tip, is the infection. The dentist says she is 3-4 millimeters from the infection breaking into her airway.

Here is a side view of the other infection. You can see the large spherical cyst in the middle. The thin, faint outline on the right edge is what little bone she has left there. This infection is estimated to be 0.5 millimeters from bursting into a blood vessel right next to it that carries blood to her brain. This could lead to very severe complications and worse infections.

Unfortunately, if we cannot save the teeth she will need to have them extracted and get dental implants which are even more expensive. If successful, she may need further funds to replace her outdated crowns which are around $4500 for 3 crowns. Right now, we are just trying to raise enough money for the surgeries she needs done as soon as possible.
