Following on from our successful club game to raise money for Marley Shaw and Queen's Hospital, Nottingham, the club is delighted to announce a new charity fixture, this time for our storied Vets!
Before our final 1st XV league game of the season against Stafford Rugby Club, we will have a Vets game on the Oldfields pitch against neighbours Ashbourne Rugby Club.
The game is being played to raise funds for Friends of the Baby Unit at Royal Derby, a charity that supports parents, children, and workers in the NICU. The charity supported 1st XV Assistant Coach and player Jack Conlon and his wife, Emily, during the early arrival of their daughter Dorothy. The charity also supported Ashbourne Rugby Club stalwart, Steve Bembridge, in the past with his children, too.
We hope to raise funds to support the charities work and the wonderful work done by the staff at the NICU. In the past, FOBU bought incubators for sick newborns, created a space for parents to relax, and remembrance room for the bereaved family members of children who have sadly passed away, amongst many other things. Whatever we raise will go towards supporting families in the most trying of circumstances. Thank you for any donation, large or small!
