Please help support the 2016 Maine We The People team from Marshwood High School by becoming a team sponsor!

23 students from Marshwood will be travelling to Washington DC to represent the state of Maine at the 2016 We The People National Finals competition.  Now in its 29th year, the We The People: Citizen and the Constitution program is the most extensive civic education program in the nation.  Over 1,200 students from all 50 states and DC will attend to participate in this prestigious academic competition about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

The Marshwood students are enrolled in the school’s advanced placement U.S. government and politics course and have studied for months to prepare for their role as experts testifying on constitutional issues in a simulated congressional hearing.

Now more than ever our young citizens need to learn about our nation's founding documents and about what it means to be an active and responsible citizen.

The trip is costly for students (over $1000 per student), and we are trying to raise $5000 to help offset these costs.  Please consider becoming a sponsor of the 2016 team.

The We the People program is sponsored by the Center for Civic Education.  More information can be found at the Center's website: http://www.civiced.org/national-finals-2016
