Hallo zusammen!
Wir sind das iGEM-Team der TU Dresden 2026. Dieses Jahr haben wir uns einer großen Herausforderung der synthetischen Biologie gestellt: dem Projekt MOCHI (Making OCH1 Controlled Humanization Inducible).
Worum geht es?
Um lebenswichtige Medikamente herzustellen, nutzen wir oft Hefe als "Fabrik". Doch Hefe-Zellen produzieren Zuckerketten, die sich von menschlichen unterscheiden, so dass sie nicht für die Antikörperproduktion für die Humanmedizin genutzt werden können. Hier kommen wir, das Team MOCHI, ins Spiel: Wir entwickeln eine Methode, um diese Zuckerketten gezielt zu kontrollieren und zu "humanisieren".
Warum brauchen wir deine Hilfe?
Die Teilnahme am iGEM-Wettbewerb ist eine enorme Chance für uns als Studierende, aber sie ist auch ziemlich teuer. Labormaterialien, Wettbewerbsgebühren und die Reisekosten für die Teilnahme am Finale übersteigen unser Budget. Unsere genaue Budgetaufteilung kannst du in den beigefügten Bildern sehen.
Mit deiner Spende ermöglichst du uns:
- den Kauf wichtiger Materialien für unser Projekt
- die Durchführung unserer Experimente im Labor
- die Repräsentation Dresdens auf der globalen Bühne der synthetischen Biologie

MOCHI - Making OCH1 Controlled Humanization Inducible
Hello everyone!
We are the 2026 iGEM team from TU Dresden. This year, we have taken on a major challenge in synthetic biology: Project MOCHI (Making OCH1 Controlled Humanization Inducible).
What is it about?
To produce vital medications, we often use yeast as a "factory." However, yeast cells produce sugar chains that differ from human ones, making them unsuitable for antibody production for clinical use. That's where we, Team MOCHI, come in: we are developing a method to specifically control and "humanize" these sugar chains.
Why do we need your help?
Participating in the iGEM competition is an incredible opportunity for us as students, but it is also extremely cost-intensive. Laboratory materials, registration fees, and the costs of attending the final competition exceed our budget. You can find a detailed breakdown of these costs in our images.
